American Citizenship Award
4th Grade Requirements
The Wasatch Honor Patch is the highest award you can earn at Wasatch Elementary. To qualify you must be in third grade or above and meet the requirements in the five following categories.
1. Citizenship
Is responsible for own actions.
Shows respect and consideration for others.
Has not been involved in any disciplinary action this school year.
2. Academics
Tries to master assignments independently.
Takes responsibility for class work and homework.
Maintains 85% achievement in all academic areas.
Asks for help when needed.
3. Extra-Curricular Participation
Participate in any three school activities: (i.e. Great Brain, Hall of Fame, Writers’ Olympics, Schoolhouse Chess, Orchestra, Band, Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Choir, Talent Show, Concert Choir, Science Fair, Hershey Track)
4. Patriotism
(Some requirements in this category vary by grade level. The requirements listed are for 4th grade. If you would like to know the requirements for another grade please contact a teacher of that grade or the main office.)
Demonstrate respect during flag ceremony.
Sing the first verse of the Star Spangled Banner.
Recite or sing the first and fourth verse of America the Beautiful.
Verse 1:
Oh, Beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesty above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.
Verse 4:
Oh, beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years

5. Service
Give service to Wasatch Elementary for a minimum of four hours. Service must be pre-approved.
Official Applications will be available in the main office starting March 1st. Applications are due the last Friday in April.
