Welcome to Fifth Grade!flag

I am excited to work with you and your child this upcoming year. I love teaching fifth graders and am looking forward to a spectacular year!

The new school year is just around the corner and it's about that time to begin purchasing those back to school items. The school will provide the basic materials needed for your child; however a donation of the following items would be greatly appreciated.

The following are items needed in the classroom. If you would like to donate any of the following, that would be very helpful.

Parents please note: donations and contributions are voluntary; we do not require them in order for your child to participate fully.

We’ve had such a great year last year.  We’ve had many memorable events.  Our class did state presentations that were wonderful.  We also had some fun book report presentations where children had the opportunity to dress up as a character in their book, make a poster or diorama, or even to put together a game.  The book reports were very creative.  We also had some wonderful animal posters that showed how much the children learned as we studied inherited traits.  They came up with some wonderful made-up animals and learned how to describe what they would be like.

We enjoyed a field trip to the Monte L. Bean Museum and learned so much that connected with our unit on animals.  At our art show at the end of the year you could see the fabulous pictures that were created by our students under the guidance of our wonderful art teacher, Mrs. Lee.

We enjoyed attending the Nutcracker Ballet.  We’ve also had some guest speakers:  Mr. Monson spoke to us about animals and their specialized structures and Mr. Holland spoke to us about United States history and things that led up to the Revolutionary war.  Both presentations were excellent.  We also had a fabulous simulation of the Revolutionary War.  It truly brought the feelings that we wanted to have the children understand.

We were privileged to participate in a program at the BYU Law School in their mentoring program.  Each student had their own law school mentor that helped them with our social studies activities as well and working individually with their persuasive writing.  It’s been a program that’s been so enjoyable and very helpful.

Each student worked on a presentation on a specific president of the United States.  We enjoyed the powerpoint presentations toward the end of the year.  We also learned the songs for the Hope of America.  It was fun to be able to do this presentation.

We had a wonderful class and a super year.  I look forward to having that kind of fun again this upcoming year!
