Fieldtrip March 9

We had a wonderful field trip up to the Utah State Capitol Building where we were able to watch the legislative session in progress!  We were able to meet with Senator Bramble and talk with him.  We were able to watch the process of voting on bills! 

Our next stop was the Federal Courts Building.  We were shown the holding cells for prisoners getting ready for trial.  We got to meet with Judge David Sam and learned about the process for a trial or hearing.  We were priviledged to watch a sentencing hearing of a bank robber.  We learned a lot about the court systems of our country and the legal process.  What a great impact it had on us to watch someone be sentened to prison for what in his own words were "stupid choices."  We are grateful for those who helped make this field trip possible.

Writer's Olympics forms are coming home!  Please look for them.  This is a required assignment for 5th grade!  Due Mar. 22. 

Also, as a reminder, the Reading Hall of Fame is also required in fifth grade.  Please talk with your student to see that they are getting close to getting finished!

We have started our science rotations.  Our class is learning about weathering and erosion from Miss Davis.  What a fun unit!

Your students can go to www.spellingcity.com to practice their spelling words with learning activities and games.  15 minutes a night will count toward their spelling for centers - just send in a note to me!
